India is intensifying its battle against drug abuse with a focus on dismantling narcotics networks and strengthening support systems for those affected by addiction, Union Minister Amit Shah said on the International Day Against Drug Abuse. Amit Shah said the government is committed to protecting the country’s youth from the drug menace while ensuring care and rehabilitation for affected individuals. The chief minister said that the government would fully support every initiative aimed at eliminating the menace and stressed that the fight was essential to safeguard children and future generations. Flagging off a rally organised by the state Excise Department in Thiruvananthapuram to mark International Karur MP S. Jothimani stated that the State government is on track to control drug trafficking, with Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay taking all necessary steps. She noted tough action against drug sellers and trimmed down Tasmac outlet functioning. Police personnel in Karur were observed acting swiftly based on inputs regarding drug trafficking. She emphasized ensuring no person below 21 gets liquor.
