Starting April 1, Indian consumers won't be able to buy internet-connected CCTV cameras from Chinese companies. The government has decided to explicitly refuse to certify products manufactured by those companies, reports LiveMint. The main targets of the ban are Hikvision, TP-Link, and Dahua, which accounted for about a third of the Indian market until 2024, reports the Times of India. Authorities have refused to certify products using Chinese-origin chipsets or firmware.
