A new bill in the Indian state of Telangana aims to protect gig workers—people who make a living by selling stuff online and then selling it back to consumers in exchange for money, the Economic Times reports. According to the Hindu, the bill gives gig workers "a clear social security framework and statutory safeguards." The bill also sets up a social security fund and penalties for aggregators of gig workers. The bill was passed by the Legislative Assembly in the state, which has more than 1.5 million gig workers.
