Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami pitched the state as a global hub for yoga, Ayurveda, and wellness tourism on Friday during a 'Run for Yoga' event in Dehradun. He emphasized yoga's role in managing modern stress and called for public participation in healthy living. The government aims to develop Uttarakhand as a center for these wellness services, leveraging its spiritual heritage. Uttarakhand CM Dhami participated in the 'Run for Yoga' event in Dehradun ahead of Yoga Day, framing it as a public awareness campaign for healthy living and yoga adoption. He highlighted Uttarakhand's historical connection to yoga and stressed its role in achieving body, mind, and soul harmony. Dhami credited PM Modi for international recognition and urged youth to adopt yoga for a brighter future, noting government efforts to establish Uttarakhand as a wellness hub. District Collector S. Kandasamy stated that yoga is a holistic practice enriching both body and mind. He noted that changing lifestyles and unhealthy food habits contribute to chronic diseases, and yoga offers a way to prevent ailments while maintaining well-being. Originating in India, the Collector urged everyone to incorporate regular yoga into daily life for improved physical fitness, mental peace, concentration, and productivity. The Army Training Command Headquarters (HQ ARTRAC) has been running daily yoga sessions since June 13 for International Yoga Day. Enthusiastic participation from personnel and their families shows growing acceptance of yoga as a holistic lifestyle. A team led by Punit Chaturvedi conducted specialized sessions, stressing the correct performance of yogasanas and kriyas for physical, mental, and spiritual benefits. The initiative sought to demonstrate yoga's power to unite communities and foster global well-being.
