Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Budget for the financial year April 2026 to March 2027 today. Osmania University Professor Satish Raikindi believes the budget might focus on defence, infrastructure development, such as railways, MSMEs, rural development, and the green economy. The 2026-27 capital expenditure target of Rs 12.2 lakh crore is up from Rs 11.21 lakh crore budgeted for the current fiscal. This year's budget will be the first time since 2009-10 that the entire budget will be given to the states, not just the federal government.
