Rs 16,350 crore Rayalaseema low‑carbon steel project begins construction in Andhra after nearly 20-year delay

Kadapa (Andhra Pradesh), Jul 3 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday launched the construction work of JSW Rayalaseema Integrated Steel Plant at Sunnapurallapalli and Peddadanluru villages in this district. The integrated steel plant will be developed by JSW Andhra Pradesh Steel Limited in two phases in 1,100 acres with a total investment of Rs 16,350 crore, said an official press release. Phase I will involve an investment of Rs 4,500 crore, while Phase II will bring Andhra Pradesh CM N. Chandrababu Naidu launched the construction of JSW's Rs 16,350 crore integrated steel plant in Kadapa district. The project will span 1,100 acres in two phases, aiming for a capacity of two million tonnes per annum by March 2028. It will utilize green steel technology and is expected to create jobs and boost Andhra Pradesh's industrial standing. JSW Steel has started construction on a Rs 16,350 crore, two-phase project for a 2 million steel plant in Andhra Pradesh, executed via JSW Rayalaseema Steel Ltd. The initial phase involves a 1-MTPA plant for low-carbon steel, followed by an expansion to 2 MTPA. The project will utilize Electric Arc Furnace technology with recycled scrap and DRI as raw materials. New Delhi: JSW Steel on Friday said it has commenced the construction of a 2 million steel plant project in Andhra Pradesh at an investment of over Rs 16,350 crore. The project will be set up in two phases through its 100 per cent subsidiary JSW Rayalaseema Steel Ltd, JSW Steel said in a statement.
