Mumbai Rains Fury Causes Floods and School Closures
Torrential monsoon rains have battered Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and the Konkan region for three consecutive days, causing severe waterlogging and triggering numerous incidents. The BMC has deployed emergency teams to manage tree falls, short circuits, and building collapses, while dewatering operations are underway. The heavy rainfall also caused landslides on the Mumbai-Pune line, disrupting rail traffic, and led to fatalities across the region. Educational institutions in Mumbai, Pune, Palghar, and Lonavala have faced closures or precautionary measures due to IMD alerts. Authorities in Nashik are also implementing evacuation measures amid cloudburst fears.
