Wangchuk loses weight amid hunger strike; leaders urge him to stop fast
Sonam Wangchuk, on an indefinite hunger strike protesting NEET exam irregularities and demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, is facing severe health deterioration. He has reportedly lost over 8.2 kg since starting the fast, with some reports noting a total loss of 8.9 kg. Opposition leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal, have urged him to end the fast, while others like Shabana Azmi, Soni Razdan, and Mahua Moitra have appealed for his well-being. A US diaspora group also called on the government to engage with him and ensure his medical care. Concerns are raised over the government's response and the systemic failures leading to these protests.
