In good news for medical aspirants, the MBBS seat tally in India has crossed the 1.36 lakh mark, clocking a 7 per cent raise from 2025. As against a total of 1,28,976 MBBS seats available across 818 medical colleges in India for the academic year 2025โ26, there will be 13,6939 seats available for the 2026-27 session across 823 colleges -- 441 government and 382 private.
