A missile was fired from Yemen toward Israel Saturday morning, setting off sirens in Beersheba and nearby areas, the Jerusalem Post reports. According to the International Business Times, the missile came from the Houthi rebels in Yemen, who are backed by Iran. It's the first direct missile attack on Israel since the war between Israel and Iran began on Feb. 28. It's also the first time Iran-backed rebels in Yemen have fired a missile at Israel. The attack comes as Israel continues to hit Iranian military targets in the country, and Iran continues to hit Israeli targets in the region. The Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Indian Ocean to the Red Sea, is a major chokepoint for oil and gas exports around the world. President Trump recently joked that Iran needed to "open up the Strait of Trump—I mean, Hormuz.".
